 Mozilla Firefox 4.0 final version was released on March 22, 2011. The primary goals for this version of the popular browser included improvements in user interface, standards support, and performance.
Firefox 4 is based on the new version of the Gecko engine, Gecko 2.0. Gecko 2.0 adds and improves support for HTML5, CSS3, WebM and WebGL. New Firefox also includes JägerMonkey (a new JavaScript engine, that improves the execution of “non-traceable” JavaScript) and better XPCOM APIs.
The new version of the browser brings a new user interface. New features include application tabs, Jetpack extensions support, a redesigned extension manager, improved “doorhanger” notifications, support for multitouch displays, and integration with Firefox sync.
A new feature, Firefox Panorama, lets the user organize tabs into windows (groups) and perform different operation on these groups. Users can also create persistent “app tabs” and customize the bars: the tab bar, the navigation bar and the bookmark bar.
