Yahoo Site Explorer Closed

Yahoo Site Explorer Closed A popular service for webmasters Yahoo Site Explorer was officially closed on November 21, 2011. Now this service is unavailable. Yahoo transferred the technology to Microsoft and merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Now webmasters can use Bing Webmaster Tools instead of Yahoo Site Explorer.

The service was launched in 2005, so it had existed for six years. Yahoo Site Explorer provided webmasters with an opportunity to learn site indexing statistics, analyze links referring to their sites. The service was closed due to the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing.

Webmasters reacted to the news concerning the closure of Yahoo Site Explorer negatively. Once the service had closed, webmasters didn't get a worthy alternative, as Bing Webmaster Tools which is offered as a replacement for Yahoo Site Explorer does not allow to analyze any other website instead of your own one.

The closure of Yahoo Site Explorer was announced in summer 2011. The developers informed that the service would have ceased to exist by the end of the current year. The estimated closing date referred to September 15, 2011.
