Website optimization. Work with keywords Search engine optimization of sites (SEO) is very important for promotion of a website. To make search engine optimization of sites more effective, it is not enough to select proper keywords for web promotion. It is also very important to optimize the use of these keywords on your site.

Keywords should be selected very thoroughly. The right selection of the keywords for the site determines its position in the search engine rankings. Moreover, appropriate keywords selection results in the increase in general website effectiveness. Wrongly selected keywords do not bring target visitors on the site, do not attract potential clients or customers, therefore, they are useless.

Website optimization should take into account a lot of important factors and parameters. For example, keywords selection for websites depends on the frequency of queries that are typed into the search engine bar by the users. In accordance with this criteria, search queries and related keywords can be subdivided into three main groups:

  • high frequency queries
  • middle frequency queries
  • low frequency queries

The so-called high frequency queries are the queries that consist of a single word (sometimes two words) and are most frequently typed into the search bar by search engine users. The “high frequency threshold” can be different for different subject fields. Website optimization by such queries is quite complicated.

Correspondingly, the middle frequency queries are the queries that have middle inquiry frequency for a given subject field, and the low frequency queries have low inquiry frequency. Low frequency queries, as a rule, consist of three and more words. Website optimization by low frequency queries is the most simple and accessible.

Website pages should be relevant to the required keywords. It means that website content should include enough keywords to achieve optimal ratio of the keywords to the general number of words on the page.

The rate, that shows how often the given keyword can be met in a certain amount of the whole text on the page, is called the keyword density. The keyword density is defined as the ratio of this word to the general number of words on the page. It is measured in percentage.

The keywords density rate is taken into account by the search robots, that is why SEO specialists work for the increase in this rate, trying to achieve the biggest possible keywords density. However, too high keywords density influences on the page ranking in the search engine results page negatively, because excessive number of keywords in the text is considered search spam by the robots. As a result, the page is pessimized (i.e., loses its positions).

How can you perform website optimization during the work with keywords density?

To prevent ineffective results, website optimization by the keywords density rate should be performed competently. The acceptable range of values is about 5-7%. The pages with lower keywords density are not enough relevant, and if the keywords density is too high, the search robots classify such page as spam.

Along with right choice of the keywords density on the page, website optimization also presumes the work with the keywords positioning in the text of the page. How should such term as “positioning” be understood?

The positioning is the presence of the keywords in all elements of the page that are important from the viewpoint of the search ranking. For instance, the presence of the keyword in such tags as <h1> – <h4> and <title>, in such meta tags as <keywords> and <description>, as well as setting off of the keywords with such tags as <strong> or <b> is conductive to the increase in the “weight” of a keyword, i.e. it importance from the viewpoint of the search engines.

The above-described methods of work with the keywords do not settle the question of website optimization. However, they are quite simple and accessible for everyone who wants to try his hand in website optimization.
