If you use search engines to find necessary information on the Internet, you have surely mistyped or misspelled your search queries. Misspellings and typos are quite common for all people – no one is perfect, you know. Even the most educated people are not immune to mistakes.
Why do typos occur? Sometimes they are the results of out haste or inattentiveness. Quite often we miss one of the letters or, on the contrary, type and extra letter. Sometimes we forget to put a space between two words. As far as, for example, German and French are concerned, we can forget about the diacritical marks. The specialists of web design studio WebStudio2U have decided to carry out a small research in order to find out, how many “wrong” queries are typed by the users who search for information concerning web design, web development and web promotion. In the table below you can see the most popular search queries (column 1), misspelling variants (column 2) and the number of mistyped/misspelled queries per month according to the statistics provided by Google Adwords Keywords Tool (column 3).

As you can see from the table, there are several variants of the most popular misspellings and typos for each search query. It is evident, that people, who types all these queries, are your target visitors, and you should not miss them. How to attract these visitors to your site? You can use such keywords in low-frequency queries and then work with them just like with other low-frequency queries. However the effectiveness of mistyped and misspelled queries depends on the number of queries per month. If this number is lower than 300, it is unreasonable to use these queries for web promotion. For example, the least popular mistyped queries in this table are “resesign” (170 searches per month), “tedesign” (260 searches per month), “wen studio” (91 searches per month), “seb studio” (170 searches per month), “copywritinh”, “coptwriting”, “copuwriting”, and “copyeriting” (less than 10 searches per month). It is evident, that you must not use them as only more high-frequency mistyped queries are able to attract a considerable number of visitors to your site.
